If there was anyone who ever questioned the leadership of Darrell Stuckey, they just got answered. I did not watch the game, but as our defensive leader and general playmaker, he seems to have responded. Our Defense shut down a decent passing offense today and aside from 1 blown coverage held down a team i predicted would score 20 on us to 7.
Thoughts - - Onyegbule, Wheeler proved we can get a pass rush against UTEP. -Thorton continued his trend of Picking the ball off from last year. - through 2 games we have allowed.... 78 rushing yards.... we have rushed for 578.... - Our Pass defense is only giving up 225 a game. Holding teams below 275 yards a game is going to take us along way this season. - Turnover differential is +1 - We haven't had both Briscoe and Meier dominant in the same game. - We have a triple threat running game going Either QB, Sharp and Opurum. - Jake Sharp is 2-2 over 100, Last year i believe he had 10 rushing yards to this point.
Thoughts from Around the big 12,
Colorado Dan Hawkin's preseason prediction of 10 wins or BUst has taken another hit by losing to Toledo 54-38..... barring a miraculous finish ( would have to be something like running the table ( possibly 1 loss ) and then winning a bowl game.....
On another Colorado thought, I think the clock is on for Colorado Dan Hawkin's "resignation" from Colorado.
K-State gave Bill Snyder a 5 year Contract extension and like his predecessor immediately lost a football game in embarassing fashion. They lost to University of Lousiana Lafeyette by 2 points, after scoring only 2 points through 3 quarters of action.
How this dropped to bulletin 4 im not sure but Houston Cougars Upset Oklahoma State In Boone Picken's Stadium, Apparently Oklahoma Schools are allergic to Top 5 Rankings.
Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech... well... they won. Big.
Blaine Gabbert's opening game Coronation turned into a second game white knuckle victory for Mizzou. Home Victories against Mac teams appear to be much more difficult than Road/ Neautral's to big 10 (11) schools. Truth Be told though, His numbers were pretty good, and That alone allows me to use a patented ( Blaine Edwards ) 3 snaps and around the back snap. he threw two late game touchdowns to keep Mizzou in the Game and eventually tie it.
if only Iowa State faired as well in Road Neutral's against Big 10 (11) teams. Iowa State Quarterbacks complete 18 passes combined, 13 to their receivers and 5 to Iowa Hawkeyes Defenders. Tyler Sash's Statline reads 3 picks and 63 Yards, which if he were a receiver for Iowa State would have netted him first in receiving yards and tied for second in receptions. Can't win them all cyclones.
Next on tap for us, The Duke Blue Devils. It's not basketball season yet, don't worry. They are Coached by Coach Cutcliffe ( i'll refer to him furthermore as Coach c ), and bring a 1-1 record to Memorial Stadium, Their victory was over Army 35-19, Today and they lost to Richmond 24-16. Look out for Corner Leon Wright, who returned two Interceptions for touchdown in the win over Army.
Onto NFL.....
